FAQ: What about Nuclear Fission, isn't this the energy of the future? A MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) professor once likened producing electricity from nuclear fission to theories on how to get to heaven. Many people have tried, and there are many theories about how it might be done, but no one alive has yet succeeded. It was touted as the energy of the future in 40 years time 40 years ago, and it is still touted as the energy of the future – in 40 years time. The basics of nuclear fission can be seen here: http://www.websters-online-dictionary.org/definition/english/nu/nuclear+fusion.html The current best effort is a joint project called INTER and details of that are on: http://www.iter.org/
